Red laughter

She wouldn’t feel lonely

surrounded by no one but strangers

just one in a world of passing things

but

crowded by known faces

she’d feel abandoned

purposely lost

invisible in a sea of eyes

seeing nothing but her lines

colourless in a room of

red laughter

choking on water

when faceless names

washed her out.
